IPL 2020 Live Score, Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore: AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli are stitching a steady partnership for RCB’s third wicket. This is after Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch fell to Mitchell Santner and Sam Curran. RCB opted to bat first against CSK and made one change by bringing Moeen Ali ahead in place of Isuru Udana. CSK have made 2 changes with the inclusions of Santner and fast bowler Monu Singh. With 14 points, Virat Kohli-led RCB are one point away from becoming the first team to enter the playoffs, while MS Dhoni, captain of CSK made it very clear that the remaining three games of the season will be a part of the team’s preparation for next year’s IPL. The last time RCB and CSK played each other, it was Kohli’s unit which emerged victorious by 37 runs. RCB are coming off consecutive wins, while CSK have had to endure defeats in their previous two games. None the less, the rivalry between these two teams has always been one of the most famous in the IPL and Dhoni’s team can be backed not to throw in the towel just yet.

Another toughie, another drop
Same as before, this time it’s Jadeja, who gets his hand to a bullet drive from Kohli, deflects off it and a single is taken. Five runs off Jadeja’s first over. RCB 86/2 after 13 overs
DROPPED! Tahir puts down Kohli
It was hit hard on the return and even though Tahir tried to get his hands on to it, it touched the palm and went through. A misfield from the fielder almost carries the ball to the boundary before Santner pulled off a brilliant dive to prevent a boundary. Three runs taken. RCB 81/2 after 12 overs.
Running between wickets impeccable between Kohli and de Villiers
When these 2 bat together, expect something incredible. That’s what describes their running between wickets, Kohli and AB de Villiers, as they take RCB to 75/2 after 11. Their partnership has reached 30 off 30 balls.
SHOT from de Villiers!
No handing around even with Tahir operating. AB de Villiers cracks a boundary towards deep extra cover, his second of the innings as RCB get to 72/2 after 10 overs. This, after he almost ran himself out the previous ball after Jadeja’s throw didn’t hit the stumps directly.
What a glorious boundary from ABD
Wow! Simply stunning. Plays the ball inside out along the ground. But the timing and placement on that delivery from de Villiers is impeccable. Imran Tahir chases the ball into the boundary. What a cricketer. Simply outstanding. Nine overs gone, RCB 63/2
Kohli likes batting against CSK
In 24 innings, Kohli has scored 837 runs against CSK at an average of 41.85 and a strike rate of 127.98. This includes a 90 in the previous encounter between these two sides.
IPL 2020, RCB vs CSK Live Score: Tahir into the attack
With AB de Villiers just joining Kohli, it will be an interesting battle between him and his South Africa teammate Imran Tahir. It took him time to make it to CSK’s Playing XI and he’d want to prove it would have been a different situation for CSK had he been part of their XI from the beginning.
OUT! Padikkal falls for 22
GONE! A fine bit of teamwork in the deep by Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad as RCB lose their second wicket for 46. Padikkal went for the big one, but just didn’t connect it as well as he’d have liked. Du Plessis took the catch but fearing he might touch the boundary while falling with the ball in his hand, lobbed it in the air for Gaikwad to complete the catch.
FOUR! Padikkal timing the ball well
A second boundary for Padikkal, to go with a six. Nice pick up shot by the youngster to get 8 off the over. RCB 46/1 after 6 overs.
Kohli and Dhoni share a laugh
The current India captain and his predecessor indulge in a light moment. No idea what it’s about though. There’s no many match-winning moments between these two for Indian cricket. None the less, seven runs off Santner’s first over. RCB 38/1 after 5.
FOUR! Padikkal sweeps Santer
Mitchell Santner with the ball for the first time in IPL and he drifts one down Padikkal’s legs. He responds smartly playing the sweep shot and finds the gap to get himself a boundary.
OUT! Curran strikes in first over
GONE! Finch out for 15. Curran provides the breakthrough in his first over. Finch came down the wicket to a slower bouncer from Curran but managed a top edge. Ruturaj Gaikwad positions himself nicely behind the ball and completes the catch.
IPL 2020 Live Updates: Sam Curran in the attack
He did not bowl at all in the previous game against Mumbai Indians, but Sam Curran has come in here as first change for CSK. A single and a wide to start with.
Has Deepak Chahar lost his spunk?
He was quite the revelation for CSK in IPL 2018 and equally effective the year after. But this season, things haven’t quite gone the way for Deepak Chahar after recovering from the groin injury. Three overs gone, RCB are 26/0
Short and wide… and Padikkal goes after it
First SIX of the match. Short and wide delivery from Deepak Chahar and Padikkal’s eyes light up. Gave it his all to send the ball sailing over backward point. Padikkal is away. Chahar responds with a couple of in-dipping deliveries.
Finch gets it away fine
A third boundary for Aaron Finch as he finishes the over with four. Good start from Kumar. RCB 18/0 after 2 overs.
RCB vs CSK Live Score: Was there an edge?
Finch pulls and misses. But the commentators doubt there was a sound as the ball passed the bat. Was there an edge? Nope, nothing on the Ultra Edge.
Debutant Monu Kumar shares the new ball
Man of the moment, Monu Kumar, making his IPL debut starts off with a little outswinger to Padikkal. Starts with two dots. Encouraging signs as he gets a bit of a shape away.
First boundary for Finch
After two balls moved away from Finch, Dhoni decided to walk up to the stumps. Next two balls, Finch knocks off back to back boundaries to take CSK to 11/0 after the first over.
RCB and Padikkal off the mark
Early movement from Deepak Chahar, gets the ball to move in towards the left hander. Padikkal dabs the ball to third man for a single and RCB are off the mark.
First ball coming up!
Devdutt Padikkal, who is out along with Aaron Finch, marks his guard. Deepak Chahar has the new ball. It’s game times, folks. The Southern Derby is underway.
Here’s why RCB are wearing green
Over the years, the Royal Challengers Bangalore make it a point to replace the yellow in their jersey with green. Find out why…
CSK Playing XI
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, N Jagadeesan, MS Dhoni (Wicketkeeper/Captain), Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Monu Kumar
IPL 2020 Live: MS Dhoni on CSK’s mathematical chance of making the playoffs
“We would have loved to bat first as well, same reason, it’s a used wicket. Mathematically we still have a chance, but you have to think how we have done in this season. 4-5 games prior we just took one game at a time and not worry about the points table. If we win it will take care of itself. We are looking at faces who haven’t got chances.”
RCB Playing XI
1 Devdutt Padikkal, 2 Aaron Finch, 3 Virat Kohli (Captain), 4 AB de Villiers (Wicketkeeper), 5 Moeen Ali, 6 Gurkeerat Singh Mann, 7 Chris Morris, 8 Washington Sundar, 9 Navdeep Saini, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK: One change for RCB
Virat Kohli has informed that RCB have made one change in their Playing XI. All-rounder Moeen Ali comes in for left-arm fast bowler Isuru Udana.
Captain’s Corner: What Kohli has to say
It’s pretty dry, rough. It’s interesting when the weather was hot the pitches weren’t playing well. The temperatures have dropped now but it’s slowing down.
TOSS: RCB opt to bat after Kohli wins toss
RCB will be batting first, Kohli says the decision is a ‘no-brainer’. The last 4 matches has seen teams chasing win. Can CSK take that as a motivation?
We’re just a couple of minutes away from the toss. Here we go. CSK vs RCB, Round 2 of the Southern Derby coming up.
Did you know?
This has been RCB’s best season since 2011 in terms of the kind of start they’ve had. Also, RCB have stuck to one opening combination – Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal. With AB de Villiers keeping wickets, it has allowed RCB and Kohli to settle on a balance XI.
The rivalry so far…
A montage aired on television summing up the rivalry shared between RCB and CSK, and also Dhoni and Kohli. From 2013, the season where Kohli took over captaincy of the team, RCB and CSK have been at each other’s throats making for one of IPL’s greatest rivalry. For the most part, CSK have got the better of RCB, but what a turnaround it has been this season.
We’re getting there. Half an hour left for toss
With playoff chances done and dusted, CSK will hope to play for pride and be aiming to end their IPL 2020 campaign with some wins under the belt. A strong RCB stand in their way, who have their sights set on the final four. Here’s our preview for today’s game.
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK: Significant game for Padikkal
If you’re a Devdutt Padikkal fan, this little nugget will interest you. The 20-year-old needs 99 runs to reach 1000 runs in T20 cricket. Can he make the occasion special by getting a century? After all, he does have what it takes to get there.
IPL 2020 Live: Will Kohli hit his 200th IPL six today?
With 199 sixes, Virat Kohli sits fifth on the list of all-time IPL six hitters behind Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, all of who have more than 200 sixes. Kohli is set to be the latest addition in this elusive group. The only question is, can he get there today itself?
Win toss bat first?
The last four games have seen the side batting second emerge victorious, and it’s something that will surely be playing on the minds of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni
IPL 2020, RCB vs CSK Live Score: What will CSK’s XI look like?
With their campaign in doldrums, and their playoff chances all but over, MS Dhoni has the license to give an opportunity to some youngster. Yes, the same bunch in whom Dhoni is yet to see the ‘spark’. Ruturaj Gaikwad, N Jagadeesan, Monu Kumar, K Asif and R Sai Kishore are some players who have been benched this season. And with nothing to lose, expected a couple of these players to make it to the team’s Playing XI. Here’s our pick on CSK’s XI against RCB.
AB de Villiers on the cusp of a historic feat
Earlier this season, Virat Kohli became the first Indian player and the fifth batsman overall to go past 9000 runs in T20 cricket. On Sunday, AB de Villiers has the chance to join his RCB skipper in the list. If Mr. 360 can score 58 runs today against CSK, de Villiers will join the likes of Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik, Brendon McCullum, David Warner and Kohli to enter Club 9K.
IPL 2020, RCB vs CSK Live Score: Will Jadeja answer Dhoni’s call?
Ravindra Jadeja has taken 20 wickets against RCB. It is his highest against any IPL opponent. If Jadeja grabs four wickets today, he will become the highest wicket-taker against RCB by a bowler from any team in the IPL.
Will Kohli trust Siraj with the new ball again?
The last match against KKR, was a match to remember for Mohammed Siraj. He bowled brilliantly in the powerplay picking up 3 wickets and ended his 4 overs spell having conceded just 8 runs. During his spell, Siraj also became the only bowler in IPL history to bowl two maiden overs in the same match.
Can CSK conjure what it takes to stop RCB?
On current form, RCB are expected to steamroll CSK. At least, that’s the kind of form Dhoni’s team has shown in their previous two matches. They were beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets and blown over by 10 wickets by table-toppers Mumbai Indians. People may have their favourite teams, but CSK are believed to be looked up to by all for their resilience. Can that same resilience come to the fore in the final three matches?
How the IPL 2020 points table stands currently
Yesterday’s two games didn’t have much impact on the points table, barring one particular upward movement. Kings XI Punjab’s fourth consecutive win saw them move a place up in the leaderboard. Click here to see where your favourite team is positioned.

Do CSK stand a chance?
In any other tournament, despite odds being against them, you would have backed CSK to turn the tables on a far superior side, but this has been that sort of a season for the three-time champions, hasn’t it? Nothing has worked for them. Three wins out of 11 games. Sticking with the same bunch of players, who are no spring chickens, hasn’t worked for them this time around. Dhoni pointed out how CSK are planning for the next season, but of things have to change, a complete overhaul is likely to be in order.
IPL 2020 Live Score: What happened the last time?
Earlier this season, CSK and RCB locked horns in Match 25, which saw Kohli’s RCB emerge victorious by 37 runs. Batting first, it was Kohli’s ruthless innings of 90 that lifted RCB to 169/4. CSK put up a pretty ordinary batting performance, finishing on 132/8 with Ambati Rayudu and N Jagadeesan being the only two significant contributers.
It’s time for Kohli vs Dhoni
Two of India’s most decorated captains, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli come face to face, which can only happen in the IPL. Kohli, who made his debut under Dhoni back in the year 2008, has risen to become the world’s best all-format batsman. Over the years, Dhoni nurtured him until Kohli finally took over India’s Test captaincy in 2014 and later in LOIs in 2017. Kohli’s India and CSK captaincy records are nowhere close to Dhoni, except in Tests. CSK have mostly gotten the better of RCB in IPL’s but this year the fortunes have changed, and how? Kohli’s RCB is on the brink of qualifying for the playoffs, while Dhoni’s CSK are preparing for next year.
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK
Hello everyone, and a very warm welcome to our readers, who by the way are in for another Bumper Sunday as we bring you one of IPL’s most followed rivalries. The Kaveri Derby – which later came to be known as the ‘Southern Derby’ as Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Chennai Super Kings in Match 44 of the Indian Premier League 2020. For both teams, this contest holds contrasting significance. With 14 points, RCB are on the brink of sealing a place in the playoffs, and Virat Kohli’s unit, which is coming off back to back wins, will be looking to become the first team to enter the final four. For CSK however, all three remaining games from this point, are about playing for pride. With 8 defeats, CSK are all but eliminated from the race for the playoffs, but there’s nothing like ending the tournament on a high. It’s Kohli vs Dhoni in what promises to be a mega blockbuster, contrary to the common notion.
